Enjoying a beginner's dive at Caletas or Marietas Islands will definitely be an unforgettable experience. Enjoy the spectacular marine reserve at Marietas Islands, or dive on the reef at Las Caletas where you can see a great diversity of marine life. After your dive you'll have time to relax on the wonderful beaches.
Located next to the beaches of Banderas Bay; Puerto Vallarta and the surrounding towns all offer the diver warm, clear waters, fantastic weather and an abundance of diverse marine life. Marietas Islands and Las Caletas are two of the most popular areas, offering both beginners and certified scuba divers the opportunity to explore the mystery and wonders of the underwater world.
Originally made famous by Jacques Cousteau in the 1970's, the Marietas Islands Marine Reserve has now become one of the most popular areas in Western Mexico for scuba diving and beginners diving. This site features a variety of tropical fish, manta rays, turtles and from December to April, whales. This is an area with a great variety of caves, reefs and caverns.
The underwater coves, the nearby natural reef and the diverse array of exotic marine life make Las Caletas one of the finest dive sites on the Pacific coast of Mexico. The reef is home to colorful tropical fish, turtles and sometimes manta rays. There are many good drop-off points, it's nice and shallow and the beaches are gorgeous. It is a great place to combine scuba diving with beach combing and lazing in the sun.
